Who we are
Donor Alliance is the non-profit organ and tissue procurement organization for Colorado and most of Wyoming. By respectfully working with the families of organ and tissue donors, maintaining partnerships with hospitals, educating residents and inspiring them to sign up on state donor registries, we are able to save lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
Creating an impact
A note from our leaders
In 2021, many small changes in our region created a big impact that has extended from donor to recipient, families, friends and beyond.
Marking our seventh consecutive year of growth, Colorado and Wyoming donors and their families contributed to a historic milestone as the U.S. officially surpassed 40 thousand transplants in one year. Donor Alliance saw a 9% increase in organ donors.
Those achievements along with the many others outlined in this report are the result of medical and technological innovations combined with the incredible generosity of Colorado and Wyoming donors and the tireless work done by our staff, partners and volunteers. What may have felt like small advancements in each area added up to a much larger impact that rippled throughout the community: mothers returned to their children, employees returned to the workforce, grandparents able to witness grandkids milestones, and countless other individual contributions to the world that would not have been possible without a lifesaving transplant.
Even as we celebrate the lives saved and honor the legacies fulfilled in 2021, we are reminded of the people in our community still waiting for a lifesaving transplant. So, our work to educate, inspire and maximize the gift of life will continue.
The miraculous impact of donation and transplantation is profound, and the effects spread far and wide. Many thanks to our incredible partners for their collaboration and to our staff for their resiliency and determination, especially within the extremely challenging circumstances the last two years have presented.
